Terminology is everywhere in healthcare. Codes are used to represent everything from lab results to conditions to medical equipment in order to objectively convey information related to billing and clinical quality measures. There are many large standard code sets, such as LOINC, SNOMED, and the family of ICD systems.
What is it?
The Commure FHIR Terminology Service provides the content you need for these standard medical coding systems, along with a convenient API for manipulating said content. This allows developers to work with the CodeSystem, ValueSet, and ConceptMap FHIR resources that describe the terminology, without any special knowledge of the underlying terminology system. These resources are also used for representing custom code systems or groups of codes and custom made maps between different sets of codes.
